Course Description:
This course strengthens students’ ability to analyze and compose effective arguments by examining how writers use language to express positions and address audiences. Students will evaluate bias and perspective, practice methods of development, and use research to support claims in analytical and argumentative writing. Emphasizing continued skill development, the course helps students refine their use of evidence, improve organization and style, and produce extended pieces such as research-based essays. Students will read City of Tranquil Light and Just Mercy and analyze how authors use tone, diction, syntax, and structure to influence audiences. This is the second course in a two-part series that prepares students to take the AP English Language and Composition exam.
